🏪 What changes with your business type

This page is a reference table — it spells out exactly what the business type renames and which modules it switches on or hides.

Looking for a guide for your own business?

This is the all-types-at-once view. A guide written for your business specifically is at Pick your business type.

You'll find the setting under System → Businesses → your business → Business type.

Changing the type deletes nothing

Changing the business type does not rename your existing records — only field labels and option lists. Reservations, guests and history stay exactly as they are.

Resource wording

The Tables collection is a generic "bookable resource". It is renamed per type:

Business typeResource name"Capacity" field
RestaurantTable / TablesCapacity (guests)
BarbershopChair / ChairsCapacity (clients)
ClinicRoomCapacity (patients)
SalonStation / StationsCapacity (clients)
HotelRoom typeCapacity (beds)
Event venueSpace / SpacesCapacity (visitors)

How a booking is expressed

The business type also decides what a reservation actually is:

  • Time slot (restaurant, barbershop, clinic, salon) – a start time plus a duration derived from the chosen service.
  • Stay (hotel) – a check-in and check-out date; capacity is counted per night.
  • Ticket (event venue) – a specific event occurrence plus a number of tickets against that event's capacity.

Zones and locations

The location options adapt too — a restaurant gets Indoor - Main, Window, Terrace, Bar, Private Room, a barbershop gets Main floor, Window, Private room, Wash station, and so on.

Occasions

The Occasion field on a reservation offers different options — a restaurant has Birthday, Anniversary, Business meeting, Date, a barbershop has Wedding, Special event, First visit.

Modules that don't apply to your business simply don't appear — there is nothing to switch off.

What stays the same

Every business type shares the same core. In the left-hand menu it all sits under Common to every business type:

  • reservations, their statuses and approval,
  • opening hours, holidays and exceptions,
  • staff and their schedules,
  • notifications (email, SMS, push),
  • the waitlist,
  • statistics, CRM and billing.

Those shared pages are written in restaurant vocabulary ("table", "guest"). If you run a different type of business, substitute your own term from the table above — the steps are identical.
