🚫 Blockouts
A blockout lets you close part of or the entire restaurant for reservations without changing your regular opening hours.
When to use a blockout?
- Public holidays or exceptional closing days
- Private events (corporate party, private celebration)
- Renovation or staff shortage
- Closing part of the restaurant (terrace in winter, etc.)
How to create a blockout
- In the left menu, click Reservations → Appointments.
- Click Add Reservation.
- As Reservation Type, select Blockout (not Reservation).
- Fill in:
- Title — description of the blockout (internal, guests don't see it, e.g. "Private Event", "Closed – Holiday")
- Start — date and time the blockout begins
- End — date and time the blockout ends
- Optional: Staff — blockout a specific staff member's availability
- Click Save.
What does a blockout do?
The blockout creates a "virtual occupancy" in the system. During that time:
- Guests cannot book a slot via the online form
- Staff still see the blockout in the calendar and know why the slot is unavailable
- Existing reservations made before the blockout are preserved
Staff blockout
If you're blocking a specific staff member's availability (holiday, sick day), assign the blockout to that person. Other staff remain available.
Removing a blockout
- Find the blockout in the reservations list.
- Open it and click Delete, or change the date/time.
:::tip Tip For regular closings (Mondays, Christmas break), update your opening hours. Blockouts are best for one-time or irregular closures.
